Pittman Jiu-Jitsu can help your child develop one of the most important life skills: focus.

Focus is a skill — just like writing your name or solving math problems. It's not something you're simply born with or without. It's a set of behaviors that can be trained, improved, and strengthened with the right coaching and encouragement.

A Personal Story From Master Pittman

"It's a fact that I am ADHD and dyslexic, and my martial arts journey, which I started at seven years old, taught me that focus can be developed. When I graduated from Coronado High School, I opened my school at 17. I also earned a college degree from Texas Tech. I didn't learn focus from the traditional school system — I learned it through martial arts training and mentors."

Classes Built Around How Kids Actually Learn

As children grow, their attention spans naturally change. The average six- or seven-year-old can focus for about seven minutes at a time. Our classes are specifically structured around these developmental stages, broken into short, engaging segments that match a child's attention span.

Instructors guide students through these focused intervals and provide encouragement and rewards as their skills improve. This step-by-step approach helps children build confidence while strengthening their ability to concentrate.

From the Mat to the Classroom

When children learn to concentrate and stay engaged, they begin to feel proud of their progress. They become more confident in facing challenges — both now and in the future. That focus shows up in homework, in chores, and in how they handle pressure at school.

By developing strong focus skills through Pittman Jiu-Jitsu, kids in Lubbock gain tools that will benefit them for a lifetime.
